Hiking in Majorca
A bit about myself
Hello, I am Leo. I am 16 years old and I live in Majorca.
For the past few months, I have discovered a new hobby: hiking.
Since I was very little, my parents encouraged both me and my sister to do excursions, as a way of contacting with nature as well as doing some sport. Therefore, every once in a while, we would go hiking. But I never really appreciated this activity, and I always did it mindlessly, as something I just had to do.
But a few months ago, after years of not going to the mountain in family, we went on an excursion near Artà, and for some reason, I enjoyed it like I never had before. I was actually focused on what I was doing, enjoying and appreciating the beauty of the nature that surrounded me.
From then on, I proposed to my family doing an excursion every week, as a way of doing sport and discovering new places in Majorca.
Now I have done around 10 excursions, and I have discovered places and things in this beautiful island that I never imagined I would discover.
The purpose of this blog
When taking on this new challenge of hiking every week with my family, I found myself with one essential problem: the lack of sources of information for begginers.
Even though one can find certain guides for routes in Majorca, most of them never give a general information about the routes, and have a lot of information that the reader finds hard to understand. Which I think is one of the reasons why hiking, specially in Majorca, is not a very common activity.
This is why, in an attempt to help more people reach this activity, I have created this blog. My intention isn’t to give detailed descriptions of the routes, or to go on talking about certain specific aspects, but to give a brief description of the excursions I do, which will include the level of difficulty, the duration and the location, as well as my own opinion (saying what I thought was the best and worst aspect of each route).
Also, since I know that, even though this information can help begginers start hiking, it isn’t very valuable when one is out in the mountain trying to know which path to take, I will provide you with links to hiking guides which do give specific information on how to find the pathways.
I hope this blog is helpful for you!
