In order to start hiking, I already had access to a few guides which contained simple routes all across Majorca. Thanks to these, me and my family were able to do all the routes we did (without getting lost). Since in this blog I don’t give too much information about the path to follow, I will recommend you some of the guides I find are simple, but at the same time give enough information.

Guía de excursionismo de Mallorca
Diario de Mallorca
This is a series of booklets created by Diario de Mallorca. Under my opinion, this is one of the best guides for beginners, because it gives simple and easy-to-follow routes, it explains them very well (sumarising the information very well).
Besides, the format makes it perfect to take it to the excursion without it being any nuisance.
This guide is my favourite, and definitely the one I use the most, so I definitely recommend it.
Since the physical format isn’t being sold anymore, you can find all the routes in electronic format here.

Guía de senderismo. Mallorca
Editorial Alpina
This hiking guide is also a very good guide, that includes 60 routes all across Majorca, for all levels.
One thing that I really like is that it contains many maps, which helps understand better the different systems of mountains in the island.
Still, the routes are explained very briefly, and sometimes can be a bit confusing. But generally, it is a very good guide. In general, editorial Alpina is very good when it comes down to hiking guides, so any option offered in their website can be very good.

GR 221 / GR 222
Triangle Postals / Consell de Mallorca
These guides contain the most important routes in Majorca. As you may know, within Spain, there are certain approved or authorised routes. Within these, we find the ones within the Gran Recorrido.
Within Majorca there are two of these Gran Recorrido routes: 221 (Serra de Tramuntana) and 222 (Serra de Llevant).
Therefore, these guides explain the routes that are approved by GR®. They are also very focused on the natural surroundings and natural reservoirs, which is very interesting and enriching for hikers.
Triangle postals has a guide for the GR 221 (which you can find in the Triangle Postals website), but not for Serra de Llevant. Still, Consell de Malorca has created guides for both of them (GR 221, GR 222).
